Type and scope of processing of person-related data

We only collect and use person-related data from you to the extent necessary to provide a functional website and our content and services, e.g. if you use the comment function on our website or use the contact form. Your personal data will only be collected and used regularly with your consent. Exceptions apply in those cases in which prior consent is not possible for real reasons and the processing of the data is permitted by legal regulations.

The security of your person-related data is a high priority concern. We will protect your data stored on our servers by technical and organizational measures to effectively prevent loss or misuse by third parties. In particular, our employees who process person-related data are bound to data secrecy and must comply with it. To protect your person-related data they are transmitted encrypted; for example, we use SSL=Secure Socket Layer for communication via your Internet browser. This is indicated by the lock symbol that your browser displays when you are using SSL. In order to guarantee the permanent protection of your data, the technical security measures are regularly checked and, if necessary, adapted to the state of the art. These principles also apply to companies that process and use data on our behalf and in accordance with our instructions.

Purpose and legal basis for processing your personal data

We collect, process and use your person-related data for the following purposes:

  • Establishment and execution of contractual relationships
  • Dispatch of newsletters
  • Marketing campaigns
  • Customer Service and Support

The processing of your person-related data may be based on the following legal regulations:

  • Section (6) subsection (1) item (a) DSGVO serves us as a legal basis for processing operations in which we obtain your consent for a specific processing purpose.
  • Section (6) subsection (1) item (b) DSGVO, as far as the processing of person-related data is necessary for the fulfilment of a contract. The same applies to such processing processes that are necessary to carry out pre-contractual measures, such as inquiries about our services.
  • Section (6) subsection (1) item (c) DSGVO, insofar as we are subject to a legal obligation which requires the processing of person-related data, for example for the fulfilment of tax obligations.
  • Section (6) subsection (1) item (d) DSGVO in the event that vital interests of you or another natural person require the processing of person-related data.
  • Section (6) subsection (1) item (f) DSGVO applies on the basis of our legitimate interests, e.g. in the use of service providers in the context of order processing, such as shipping service providers or in the performance of statistical surveys and analyses as well as in the logging of notification procedures. We are focused on using a user-friendly, appealing and secure presentation and optimization of our website, which serves our business interests as well as meets your expectations.

Duration of storage and routine deletion of person-related data

We process and store your person-related data only for the period necessary for the fulfilment of the storage purpose or if this was required by laws or regulations. Your person-related data will be deleted or blocked once this purpose has no longer been carried out or has been fulfilled. In the case of blocking, the deletion takes place as soon as there are no legal, statutory or contractual retention periods to the contrary, there is no reason to assume that deletion impairs your interests worthy of protection and deletion does not cause disproportionately high costs due to the special type of storage.

Cookies

Our website makes use of so-called cookies in order to recognize repeat use of our website by the same user/internet connection subscriber. Cookies are small text files that your internet browser downloads and stores on your computer. They are used to improve our website and services. In most cases these are so-called “session cookies” that are deleted once you leave our website.

To an extent, however, these cookies also pass along information used to automatically recognize you. Recognition occurs through an IP address saved to the cookies. The information thereby obtained is used to improve our services and to expedite your access to the website.

You can prevent cookies from being installed by adjusting the settings on your browser software accordingly. You should be aware, however, that by doing so you may not be able to make full use of all the functions of our website.

Server Data

For technical reasons, data such as the following, which your internet browser transmits to us or to our web space provider (so called server log files), is collected:

  • type and version of the browser you use
  • operating system
  • websites that linked you to our site (referrer URL)
  • websites that you visit
  • date and time of your visit
  • your Internet Protocol (IP) address.

This anonymous data is stored separately from any personal information you may have provided, thereby making it impossible to connect it to any particular person. The data is used for statistical purposes in order to improve our website and services.

Contacting Us

On our website we offer you the opportunity to contact us, either by email and/or by using a contact form. In such event, information provided by the user is stored for the purpose of facilitating communications with the user. No data is transferred to third parties. Nor is any of this information matched to any information that may be collected by other components of our website.

Use of Google Maps

We use the “Google Maps” component of Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 USA, hereinafter “Google.”

Google sets a cookie in order to process the user configuration and data when the page with the integrated “Google Maps” component is displayed. As a general rule, this cookie is not deleted by closing the browser, but rather expires after a certain time, as long as it is not previously manually deleted by you.

Some visual components of WP Google Maps use 3rd party libraries which are loaded over the network. At present the libraries are Google Maps, Open Street Map, jQuery DataTables and FontAwesome. When loading resources over a network, the 3rd party server will receive your IP address and User Agent string amongst other details. Please refer to the Privacy Policy of the respective libraries for details on how they use data and the process to exercise your rights under the GDPR regulations.

WP Google Maps uses jQuery DataTables to display sortable, searchable tables, such as that seen in the Advanced Marker Listing and on the Map Edit Page. jQuery DataTables in certain circumstances uses a cookie to save and later recall the “state” of a given table – that is, the search term, sort column and order and current page. This data is held in local storage and retained until this is cleared manually. No libraries used by WP Google Maps transmit this information.

Please see here and here for Google’s terms. Please also see Google’s Privacy Policy. We do not send the API provider any personally identifying information, or information that could uniquely identify your device.

If you do not agree with this processing of your data, you may choose to refuse to give consent to the “Google Maps” service and thereby prevent the transfer of data to Google. However, we would like to point out that in this case you will not be able to use “Google Maps” or at least only to a limited extent.

Publication of vacancy announcements / job applications

We electronically collect and process your application data for the purpose of completing the application process. If your application results in the conclusion of an employment contract, the data collected from you may be stored in your personnel file for purposes of normal organizational and administrative processes in compliance with appropriate legal requirements.

Upon rejection of your application, data you have provided is automatically deleted two months after notification of rejection. This does not apply in such instances where, due to legal requirements (such as the burden of proof obligation stipulated in the Equal Treatment Act) a longer storage period is necessitated or when you expressly agreed to have your data stored for a longer period in our database of prospective applicants.

Information/Cancellation/Deletion

Due to the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG), the Telemedia Act (TMG) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you can contact us free of charge with questions regarding the collection, processing or use of your personal data and their correction, blocking, deletion or revocation of a given consent.
